The Cinemas

Postby Dark » Thu May 14, 2009 12:46 pm

It seems like there isn't a forum section for new movies you can see in the cinemas, so I simply posted this topic here. In this topic you can discuss movies you've recently seen, or those you'd like to see. As for me, I don't go to cinemas very often because I currently live in France and they've got the retarded custom to dub every movie that comes out. And since my personal believe is that watching French dubbed movies is virtually a crime, I never go to French cinemas. Thus my situation is explained :P

Anyway, a movie that I would very much like to see is the new Star Trek movie, simply named Star Trek. I've heard that it's a very good movie and since I like Star Trek anyway it's kinda a must-see for me. Here's a trailer I found on youtube:

Watch in HD for best quality.

It's strange for me to hear that because in Italy everything is dubbed too, for me it is a normal thing
How does it work in the Netherlands? Original English audio track then?

Btw yesterday I went to see "My Bloody Valentine 3-D"...It sucks
The plot is nothing special, and the 3D feature wasn't exploited as you may expect...

In the netherlands its english sound tracks with dutch subtitles. Some movie even have 2 versions. 1 for the little kids (dutch sound tracks) and the 2nd is the original one (english with dutch subtitles)

So i guess its x100 better here for all ages :P

Eheh, i can't say if here it is so because a few people can speak and understand English, or a few people can speak and understand English also because we dub everything
I think ever since Cinema and TV came to Italy (1954 for TV) everything has always been dubbed...We started having double audio tracks when DVDs spread, and only in the last few years we have some TV series or movies with 2 tracks on Pay-TV

I agree. The worst example was garfield 2. I've seen it in a cinema and the humor in it was totally ruined because the movie was dubbed.

I saw Star Trek two nights ago. It was incredibly good, for the most part. If you are a big fan of the series (I never watched it much. I'm more of a Star Wars fan) I understan ther are a couple things that might bother you. (The guys at work were complaining about some of the plot-lines from the series vs. this film).
But all in all, everyone that has seen it so far (that I have talked too) thought it was a really great film.

Well, I'm not bothered that fast, and I never really watched the original series of Star Trek. Only the more 'recent' ones. So I think I'll be okay :P

I went to watch Star Trek yesterday and I agree with Satos, it is a really good movie. I liked it very much even if I'm not a fan of the ST series

It was pretty much inevitable that someone would make a movie based on all the 2012 hoopla. Nor is it surprising when that someone is disaster maven Roland Emmerich. His latest effort adheres closely to the formula established by his earlier films "Independence Day" and "The Day After Tomorrow"- in other words we get to watch a typically flawed-but-lovable American family (headed by John Cusack and Amanda Peet), along with a range of supporting characters, attempt to survive the end of the world.
